Matt Voelker has always had a fascination with the tactile, responsive, and whimsical qualities inherent in clay and ceramic artwork. However, it was his passion for a variety of art media and processes that led to his current mode of work.

Voelker's exploration of clay as a medium for dimensional illustrations results in eccentric worlds that juxtapose figures, objects, and scenery. The sculpted objects are composed in these imagined worlds and then photographed, with the final image serving as illustration.
